My Story Massage and Reiki

Ever since I was about 13 years old, one of my very best friends Mom always had a sore back and asked if I could give her a massage.    I ended up giving her a massage and she was always very grateful and thought that I had a gift for it.  Being very social and having a natural empathy for others, if someone said they had pain, I would always do whatever it was in my power to help them be better, whether it be a massage or talking with them.  This is how I became interested in massage and the mind and body and started to gain a passion for it.

In 1998 I was a singing waitress in the Yukon and a friend there was doing something called “Reiki”.  I had never heard about Reiki it before but I was very intrigued and she really wanted to give me a Reiki treatment.  To be honest I was a bit sceptical, however, after this first initial treatment, I had never experienced anything like this before in my life!  I had new unbounding energy and felt so pure and free and like I had just taken all of the cobwebs out of my body.  From this day on I knew that I had to learn it how to do Reiki and eventually become a Reiki Master. In 1997 I did my first Reiki Level 1 class.  Then after graduating from the University of Victoria I moved to Japan where I got my second Reiki Level in Kyoto Japan, in the place where Reiki originated.  After many adventures, I ended up getting my Reiki Masters from Karl Jacobs in Chang Mai, Thailand in 2002.

At the very same time I also spent a month in Chang Mai and went to the international School of Thai Massage (ITM School) and spent 3 weeks learning Thai Massage.  I was always really interested in the idea of unblocking energy that was stuck or blocked in one’s own energy.  I have a natural desire to unblock this kind of energy, similar to Reiki.  I also think that parts of my personality enable me a little better to help people do this since I am naturally empathetic, am friendly, non judgmental and love helping people.

I have been practicing both teaching Reiki and Thai Massage since 2002 and have also during this time put on many workshops to teach other people all different aspects of Reiki and this kind of massage.

At the beginning of 2016 I had a bit of a revelation that I should also be incorporating Massage and Reiki into my Personal training business.  I have a deep desire for helping people and have always believe that I have had the healing touch.  Both my Mom and Nana were nurses and I believe that I also have this natural empathy and truly believe that I have a gift to help others on their path and heal them in one way or another.

In 2016 I took two courses to improve my massage skills.  I took the Swedish Massage as well as I became a Raynor Massage Therapist and have studied different deep tissue massage.

Swedish Massage is so relaxing and puts people in such a bliss, feeling relaxation, rejuvenation and is a great way to re-energize your soul.

In 2016 I also became a Raynor Massage Therapist in September 2016 which was really life changing.  Raynor Massage is a kind of massage that incorporates all different kinds of massage ranging from Lomi Lomi, Thai Massage, Sweedish, Deep tissue massage, Reflexology, Shiatsu, Arevadic as well parallels Accupressure and Chinese Medicine.  Mr Brandon Raynor, whom I studied from him directly has found 26 kinds of “bands” that are on our body.  Most of these “bands” which are similar to the “Sen Meridian” lines in Thai Massage are located in your feet and fingers.  Moreover, 70% of your leg tension for example is located in your feet and hands. Through this kind of massage I can locate where the tension exists which would then go all the way up the back of your body and into your neck.  When the tension on your toes have been relieved, then the tension in your neck disappears.  It is pretty spectacular and I have had thousands of massages in my life and I had the privileged of getting this kind of massage from Mr.  Brandon Raynor himself and since receiving this kind of massage and learning about it, I believe that it has already changed my body and the way I walk and move considerably and more than any other kind of massage I have ever gotten.

I take great pride in helping people feel better about themselves and feel like being a fitness teacher, a personal trainer, a Reiki Master and doing different kinds of massage is really a fantastic way to help others on a more peaceful and productive path.  I feel that it is important to be active but that massage is equally important.
